LostMoney.com was founded in the mid 1990s. Today the website has served over 1 million people in North America with their search needs for unclaimed money.

In 2007 the board of directors for LostMoney.com decided on a new and very challenging direction for the web site.  Its founder, Wayne Warrington, has been a consumer advocate for over 20 years. This new direction was in part based upon the success the company had experienced over the years and in part the lack of successful development of the unclaimed property industry in general. Today, LostMoney.com serves as a not-for-profit organization and is dedicated to the mission of assisting over 10 million members with their quest for unclaimed property in North America.

The company will not only assist it members free of any charge, it has developed strategic business relationships with a very small group of corporate sponsors to help in achieving its mission. These corporate sponsors have agreed to make considerable donations to these efforts and in turn, LostMoney.com's board of directors have dedicated 90% of its net revenues to be donated to The Wayne Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, working with charities and humanitarian causes locally, nationally and internationally.
